Collaborative divorce is a trail-blazing concept where two people who no longer wish to be married to one another work together to end the marriage reasonably amicably. They decide what each gets, not the court or a judge.
While this may sound like a misnomer, a marriage need not end on bad terms. Particularly where there are children involved, it is important for the grown-ups, the parents, to put what is best for the children ahead of their own hurt feelings and destructive tendencies. A collaborative divorce can help here.
