While divorces can be friendly (often resulting in the much more desirable collaborative divorce), they rarely are. Emotions -- ranging from hurt, fear, anger and spiteful revenge -- often cloud the situation. This powerful rage and feelings can turn a simple legal procedure known as a California dissolution into the legal equivalent of a full-scale war.
There become many prizes and goals in a bitter divorce. Splitting up cleanly is hardly in the priority list. Often, things like child custody, child support, alimony support payments, who gets what property and the spiteful denying the other spouse possession of a certain property just to "get back at" them.
