One of the most tempting things to quibble about in the war
known as a divorce is the thing that you know the other spouse wants. This
can be some silly possession like a boat or baseball card collection. Usually,
though, it becomes something much more personal and human, like the children
of the marriage.
Of course, this fighting for the kids is based on love, concern for their welfare and what is in the "best interest of the child." Yet, often spite, revenge and malice factor in.
One key thing to remember is this: the duty to pay child support to your ex is completely independent from the duty to visit. One spouse doesn't "buy" the right to visit their kids. They are separate obligations, even though some ex-husbands and ex-wives often link them inappropriately.
